To all who have been here for any length of time, greetings my dear friends and colleagues!

Quick note to cover a few topics worth mentioning;

We now approach the 40,000 member mark. Not the largest LinkedIn "music focused" group but truly one of the most active - and spam free. ;-)

This note is to let everyone know about some 'behind the scene' changes that this site has recently made – or is planning in the near future. Some are mentioned here simply to raise awareness, others because there is a direct impact on this group and the way it functions.

>>> Manager's Choice
One recent change that is being rolled out in several stages is the elimination of the manager's choice section (found at the top of the page and has the "revolving carousel" type display).

>>> Automated Group 'suggestions'
Recently LI changed an algorithm that controls the 'groups you might like' prompt many see while viewing pages on the site. This single change in their coding has caused a dramatic increase in our "requests to join". Not a bad thing at all. However, with this change we've experienced a 10+ fold increase in the number of daily submissions to join us in the PMN. These are actually vetted one at a time and it has taken a huge chunk of the free time normally used to do administrative tasks and participate in discussions. The reduction of time (still only get the prescribed 24 hours per day) means I have not been able to be as present in the discussions as I would prefer.
